THE PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT
To bring out the best in youth, our community, and ourselves, the Chippewa Falls Optimist Club members will deliver dictionaries to the third grade students in Chippewa County.
HOW THIS PROJECT IMPACTS THE YOUTH
Each students receives their very own dictionary to use at home and school in multiple subjects all year long; we encourage them to continue expanding their knowledge and understanding of language in order to expand their world.
The dictionary not only has words and definitions, but it also has information and stats on each state, countries of the world, every president ....
... And it includes units of measurements, the periodic table, braille, sign language .... and the longest word in the English language!
Cheers to serving our youth by increasing literacy, expanding knowledge and understanding of language, and expanding the world for Chippewa County students!
THE PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT
To bring out the best in youth, our community, and ourselves, the Chippewa Falls Optimist Club members will connect with the youth during Truck or Treat and give candy and a trinket that connects them to the Chippewa Falls Optimist Club.
THE PROCESS
The committee orders decorations, ducks, and "Optimists Are Just Ducky” stickers and decorate a trunk of a vehicle, dress up in costume, and connect to the kids on October 31 in the Chippewa Falls First Presbyterian Church parking lot. Prior to the event the committee will ask the club members to donate candy.
The Chippewa Falls Optimist Club annually welcomes the international students attending both high schools in Chippewa Falls. The students - and their host families - are invited for breakfast at our Wednesday morning club meeting where we learn and embrace a little bit of their culture.
The contest is open to contestants under the age of 19 as of October 1st of the current Optimist International contest year (October 1 – September 30) and who have not yet completed secondary school or its equivalent. There is no minimum age.
How To Enter: Interested students must contact their local Optimist Club. They need to submit an application and essay on the pre-assigned topic by the January deadline. Please contact our club for more information.
With the assistance of Kwik Trip, we deliver donuts to the school districts in Chippewa falls for teachers and staff. We appreciate their time and dedication to the success of the children.
We educate, unite, and encourage kids to have fun while keeping safety in mind. In 2024-2025 we will be partnering with The Moose Lodge.
How do we pay for all the things we do? Our members volunteer to staff our food stand at the Northern Wisconsin State Fairgrounds for the fair, car show, and Oktoberfest.
We hand out FREE hot dogs and chips to hundreds of youth and their families during National Night Out. This annual event held every August at the Northern Wisconsin State Fairgrounds is a community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.
